GIS Education Center

The The GIS Education Center (GISEC) at City College of San Francisco serves as the college one-stop for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) knowledge and support. The center is available for students, faculty, and administration for various GIS related projects and support within the college.
Center Goals
• Training of current and future GIS technicians and users
• Identification of core GIS competencies
• Standardization of curriculum needs
• Development of data
We are one of four colleges working together to create a national resource for geospatial technology curriculum and professional development.
Academic Services
• Courses relating to: Introduction to GIS; GIS for Transportation and Landuse
• On-line GIS self-guided courses
• Assistance with student GIS projects
• Support for curriculum development
• Campus site-wide license of ESRI GIS desktop software for interested faculty or administration
• Support for administrative and campus GIS projects
• Our staff is also available for inquiries and other support.

History
The GIS Education Center was born out of an ATC grant in 2004 to serve the need of training students in the use of GIS in transportation.
